- Time: 8:30 AM - 1:30 PMSalary: $22.40 - $23.57 per hour + 8.9% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) for the Island of OahuWho Can Apply: U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. residing on the Island of Oahu for three or more continuous yearsOverview: The Child and Youth Program Assistant supervises children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years during daily indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events. They plan, coordinate, and conduct activities based on the observed needs of individual children and youth. Additionally, they prepare and implement program options for children and youth with special requirements.Duties:
- Supervising children and youth during daily activities
- Planning and coordinating activities
- Preparing and implementing program options for children and youth with special requirements
- Instructing team members in specific tasks and job techniques
- Ensuring compliance with Dept of Defense (DoD) and local installation standards
- Completing training requirements
- Performing other related duties as assignedRequirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required
- Meet qualification/eligibility/physical/background requirements
- Current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy, including annual influenza vaccinations
- May be subject to irregular hours, evening, or weekend work
- For positions in Child Development Centers, must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Legally required to report suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect
- May be required to administer routine and rescue medications, perform CPR and first aid, and provide accommodations to children/youth with special needs
- Travel to on and off-post locations may be required
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate and meet one of the following criteria:
- Possess and maintain a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Military School Age Credential, Army Youth Practicum, or other nationally recognized Youth Development Credential
- Have two years of specialized experience working in a group program with children or youth plus an associate degree or at least 60 semester hours with a major course of study directly related to the age group to which assigned
- Possess a bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours with a major course of study directly related to the age group to which assigned
- Possess 24 months of working in a group childcare or youth program with completion of DoD approved competency training coursesHighly Preferred Criteria: Candidates with experience assisting with childcare or youth program national accreditation processes, participating in multi-disciplinary or higher-level child/youth program inspections, working with varying age groups, or leading or mentoring lower-level childcare/youth program staff will be given preference.Education Proof: Proof of education is required at the time of application, and relevant transcripts should be provided.Additional Information:
